Indian Institute of Advanced Study

It was built in 1884-88 during the British times. It was set up by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 1964 and it started functioning from October 20, 1965. It is a must to see place. This beautiful building is surrounded by spacious gardens and beautiful pine trees. It has best atmosphere for a student. The ambiance is majestic and extravagant. During the Indian independence movement, many historic decisions have been taken in this building. The resolution to separate Pakistan and East Pakistan from India was also taken here in 1947.

Christ Church

Christ Church is Situated on the Ridge.It is the second oldest church in Northern India. It has a very majestic appearance. Its beautiful interior represents faith, hope, charity, fortitude, patience and humility. Christ Church is a place all visitors should spend some time in. It was designed by Colonel J.T. Boileau in 1884 and consecrated in 1857. The Church had carried on many changes. The church is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday, between 10:30am to 5:30pm.

The Mall Shimla

It is the prime attraction for the visitors in Shimla. it is the main shopping place of Shimla. There are many restaurants, clubs, banks, bars, Post Offices and tourist offices. The Mall has a number of restaurants that offers a large range of food i. e. from Punjabi and South Indian to Chinese and Continental. Hanuman Temple On Jakhu Hill

Jakhu Hill is the highest peak around. It is 2 kms from Shimla, at a height of 8000 ft. It offers a beautiful view of the city and of the snow-covered mountain ranges around. There is an old temple of Lord Hanuman. If one has to visit this place then be careful of numerous playful monkeys waiting to be fed by visitors.

Shimla State Museum

The State Museum Shimla was established on January 26, 1974. It has a rich display of the state’s cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage, ancient historical sculptors and paintings. It is around 2.5 km from scandal point.The building has interesting architecture. It has a great collection of coins, arms, statues, paintings, pahari miniatures and photographs. There is a ticket for a small amount and the museum is open from 10 am to 1.30 and from 2pm to 5 pm. It is closed on Monday and gazetted holidays.

Summer Hill

This place is situated at a distance of 5 km from the Ridge. Summer Hill is situated at a height of 6,500 ft. It is surrounded by Shimla-Kalka railway line. The prestigious Himachal Pradesh University is situated here.

Annandale

This place is known for big beautiful playground surrounded by beautiful trees. Annandale is 2-4 km from the Ridge. It is at a height of 6,117 ft. It is all time most wanted spot for cricket, princely game of polo & picnics.

Tara Devi

Tara Devi has a temple of goddess of stars on crest of the hill. It is around 12km from the Shimla bus-stand.This place is at a height of 6,070 ft. This is a perfect place for a person wanting harmony, peace and beauty of nature.
